Treat cooling as a critical electrical load
IT equipment produces continuous heat. A room that feels acceptable when the office is occupied may overheat after the building HVAC changes schedule or fails. Document cooling equipment, controls, condensate management, alarms, and the circuit serving them.
Keep electrical equipment and technology protected from roof leaks, plumbing, condensation, and blocked airflow. Do not use temporary fans or extension cords as the permanent cooling plan.
Plan grounding, surge protection, and cable separation
Power disturbances can reset or damage sensitive equipment. Review building surge protection, equipment protection, grounding and bonding, and any history of utility or lightning problems. Jacksonville storms make a coordinated protection strategy especially valuable.
Power and communications pathways should be coordinated so cables remain serviceable and separated as required. Avoid overcrowded penetrations, unsupported cables, blocked panels, and power strips buried under equipment.
