“Excellent experience with Bolt Electric. Heather on the business side was attentive to detail, flexible for scheduling, and all around courteous to work with. She is an asset to any business. Lucas arrived on site to provide the estimate. He is knowledgeable and well experienced in his trade. He provided great advice for my extensive and complicated installations of my home and adjacent shop building. I look forward to working with Bolt Electric on this and future projects. “From one local business owner to another. This review is written based on principle and very important for future customers to know: Do not pay your invoice until you have a written statement or notes regarding the diagnostic from the visit. On June 14, 2022 before 7pm, my tenant notified me that the lights in the home she rents were flickering. She heard a humming noise and then started to smell burning plastic. Fearing for her safety, I immediately got on the phone to call an electrician. Most were not available after hours, so I got in touch with one of my contractors who is able to run over and take a look and investigate. He suggested we turn everything off and to keep calling for an electrician. Over the course of an hour, we finally got in touch with Bolt Electric. I'm not sure if it was the owner, but one of their technicians visited the home a little after 8pm. He performed an inspection and found out that it was an issue JEA. He stayed to assist my tenant in calling JEA and pointed out his theory to them which prompted them came out. Which I was grateful for. It appears in the past, JEA ran temporary lines to the property and neglected to update the line which caused a surge. Thankfully, the house did not catch fire with the tenant in it. With this power surge came damages to my personal property. Later, a friend who works for JEA heard about the story and felt I should file a claim. It would make sense the date on the electrical visit would match the same date JEA visited, I had a reasonable case. So, I contacted JEA to file a claim. In order for JEA to consider my case, they require something in writing about what transpired the evening the electrician visited. I paid Bolt Electric $298+ tax PROMPTLY (as I do with all my venders) for their emergency visit on June 14, 2022 at 9:17pm. Not predicting the future, I somehow screwed myself over because I neglected to collect an invoice with notes of the technicians discovery. It's likely JEA will reimburse me for this emergency visit plus damages if I can prove in writing what transpired the night I hired Bolt Electric by Bolt Electric. Super easy and simple request, you'd think.... Since then I've tried contacting Bolt Electric several times via phone and emails. I even cc'd the company on the email to the JEA claims department for an explanation — still nothing.....I was told once by Bolt's admin, Heather, the technician would be calling me — again, nothing. From a small local business to another, this is very upsetting to think, we can't help each other out. This is a telling story that shows how money is more important to a company than building relationships. This is definitely not how I run my business. Again, this is a very hard lesson to learn especially when you've always lived a life having faith that people would help do the right thing.”

“They were responsive I do believe the cost was reasonable and the gentleman that performed the job got it done in a timely manner and I believe he did a great job. The first company that I got an estimate from wanted to do a total overhaul of my meter box. Now Bolt electric came out and did exactly what I needed done for what I believe was a reasonable cost. They did not try to sell me on something that wasn't needed.”

“We needed to hook up an "interlock" for our generator and adjust the electrical panel accordingly. We got estimates from 5 different electricians. 3 of those estimates were very close in $ amount. We went with Bolt because the estimator - Josh - was very professional. He took time to review the existing panel, using his IPAD to take pics and confirm with the team that the existing panel was adequate. He also pointed out some other things for us to consider if we were going to move ahead. Bolt Electric also had quick availability - so we scheduled the appointment for 4 days later. The electrician - Travis - arrived on time, was polite, communicative and friendly. While he was working on the panel, he found another issue and asked us if we wanted to resolve it - which we agreed. All the work was done in about 60-75 minutes. Travis then showed us how to actually use the generator - which we ran for about 10 minutes to supply power to sections of the house. It worked as it was supposed to. So if the power does go out during a storm, we're set with this generator and interlock. Thank you for good service, on-time arrival, good work, no Credit Card fee - and an overall good experience.”

“Made an appointment to get a quote for a portable generator hook up. Appointment was made between the hours of 8-11 am. I waited for them to show up. At 11:20am I called Bolt and was informed that the technician ran into a problem and he would be here in 45 minutes. Approximately 45 minutes later I received a call from the person that schedules the technician at Bolt and I was informed that he had not left the previous job. At that point I said forget it. There follow-up is horrible. A simple call and I would have understood. I will never use them. There are plenty of other choices. There follow up needs improvement.”

“I’ve know Lucas Thomas going on now probably in the ball park of 10 years and to call him my go to electrician wouldn’t do him justice. He’s more then my electrician he’s now become a family friend and is like my brother. I no longer ask him for a price when it comes to any repair I just tell him to take care of me and he does. He shows up on time, is clean cut and respectful and most important he’s not a salesman. He’s an honest upfront electrician that makes great recommendations for safety and functionality purposes. He recommends items and when I say no he’s not pushy or gets mad like other companies I’ve used, he just says ok and makes sure I understand these items are important and should get fixed in the near future. I trust him with my family’s safety 110%.”

“I have had Bolt Electric do a variety of projects over the last year. They quickly respond to phone messages and arrange for someone to come out to assess the project. They send an estimate right away and are ready to set up a schedule for the project. I have had good work done with polite workers who clean up any messes and complete the work within a reasonable time. The prices are also reasonable. I would recommend Bolt Electric for your simple and difficult electrical projects.”

“I was told on two separate occasions to wait for a technician. The first day I was asked to wait from 1pm-5pm. The tech showed up around 5:30 complaining that he had been screwed over by a lady in his office by being told last minute about my appointment even though I had called in the morning. I needed security cameras installed, so he removed my outside light fixtures but brought a ladder that was too short and said he would need longer nails. The next day I was given another time frame, and he still did not show. I called and he later called me back saying he had looked around for long enough nails but couldn’t find them and said he would try on Monday, which I declined. The communication was terrible with them and I was left with my outside light fixtures being left on my kitchen countertops, exposed wires outside my home, and nothing done. It was very apparent that I was seen as more of an inconvenience to the technician as opposed to a customer he really wanted to help. I would not recommend them at all. In Response To the Owner: The technician showed up and wanted to screw the fixtures themselves directly into the house. He never attempted to affix the lights mounting bracket to the home, before attempting to connect the light. This is a basic step that even YouTube explains. I had a different company come out and install them with ONLY the parts that came with them in the box. Additional screws were NOT needed. This technician was very vocal about how inconvenient it was, especially considering it was a "Friday night". I hate to write bad reviews, but this was some of the worst customer service I have experienced.”

“The work was completed well. But there were some serious communication issues that made me feel uncomfortable and even unsafe. My estimate appointment went well. However, the day of my appointment window for the work (8 am to 11 am) I didn't hear from the company until after noon and was asked to send photos so the tech could get parts. A few hours later I was informed they didn't have the necessary parts. They offered an appointment window 4 days later at the same time(8 to 11 am) and I agreed. That day I didn't hear from the company until 4 pm, when I received a voicemail that the electrician was en route. I called back and asked for their name and an idea of how long the work would take, since I'd been told 4 to 6 hours by the man who gave me an estimate. I wake up very early for work so I wasn't interested in having a stranger in my home until 10 pm; I was told the work would take 1 hour since the electrician would have a coworker with them to help. When he arrived, he was a different technician than I had been told over the phone and he was alone. This is a very uncomfortable situation for a woman who lives alone; do I turn them away and have to start from scratch to find someone to do the work? Or let a strange man into your home in the hope they're legit? Alex did a great job and was utterly professional, but I was deeply unimpressed with the logistical experience.”

“I needed wiring issues corrected for my mom immediately and Bolt Electric was able to take care of the problems. They are a great group of individuals that take their profession seriously. After taking the time to explain the problems and how they needed to be corrected, they took before and after pictures and sent them to me because I live in another state. A friend referred them to me and I was very pleased with the outcome. Thanks Bolt Electric!”

“Service of installation was very professional. But the first thing I asked them before sliding the new oven into place was to give me a chance to clean where the old one had been because there were splatters of food on all the walls and the floor was very dirty. This was years of accumulation of food, grease, and dirt. Unfortunately they put the oven back without letting me clean. Almost in tears, I went to take a nap. And voila, when I woke up, my husband informed me the gentlemen had came back and got on their knees and did all the cleaning. This was an especially kind act since I am recovering from a serious concussion. A great big thunderbolt to you, BOLT ELECTRIC!”

“It's hard to have trust in a vendor that comes to our homes to solve any problem we have little of no knowledge of. How do I make informed decisions. Well, Wayne from Bolt electric resolved our problems successfully and professionally and won my trust by explaining every detail of what was wrong and his recommendations for repair. We had a new oven installed but we found that there was no power to the oven, so I had to call an electrician. I called Bolt electric. Their electrician, Wayne, found the problem but in doing so he discovered that the electrical panel was not only out dated but that some of the wires showed burning at the ends. He suggested that it was time to upgrade the panel. I believe it was unsafe and did need replacing. Bottom line, the price was in line with other estimates I've received. Along with adding 2 dedicated lines for my garage workshop, the panel was installed neatly and just what I needed to be done. I'll be a return customer if I have a need for an electrician.”

“Mr Alex came our house put new recessed lights in the kitchen and moved a outlet and also installed a smart sprinkler panel. Thank you for wonderful job will definitely call if needed again.”

“Outdoor Gazebo has outlets, but the power isn’t making it to them. Had Bolt come out to fix and they told me they’d charge a fee of $318 to diagnose and fix the problem. They charged $318. They diagnosed the problem. But nothing was fixed. They did swap out a couple old outlets(one was poorly installed as the cover is scraping against my house), but what’s the point when they don’t work. That’s not even where the 2-star rating is earned. The tech told me they could come out and rerun some wiring and conduit and have me powered, but it would require a separate appointment/fee. At first I considered doing it myself, but then I decided to have them quote the job (Forgive me for not outright hiring them when I already thought I paid them to fix the issue but instead paid $318 to have 2 receptacles replaced). TBH, no matter the cost, I was gonna hire them to do the job. Problem was, they were non-responsive. Alex called me on a Thursday morning and asked for measurements of my fence line where the wire would run. I called back 10 minutes later with the measurement and left the info with Heather who was going to give it to Lucas. I was supposed to hear back with a quote that day, nothing. Friday passed. I sent a text. I called and left a voicemail, it has been about 2 weeks and I have still not heard from them. I was lined up to have them do the outside job, then a couple other jobs inside because they had done a prior job on my electrical panel that I was VERY satisfied with. But instead of leaving a positive review and giving them more of my money, I am here leaving this review and them apparently not wanting my money. I am open to editing this review if they can remedy this issue. Update 6/6/22 In response to Bolts response on 6/6/22: My original review was posted here for 5 months without any response until I just reduced my rating from a 2 star to a 1 star review because it had been 5 months without any response from Bolt. It is true that the day Alex replaced the outlets, I said I wanted to consider running the line myself (and I mentioned as much in my original review), however, I never received a call-back with a quote or an estimate via email... or even just a call-back at all. For you to say you did provide that and were waiting on me is dishonest. I spoke to Heather and Lucas was supposed to call me back- but never did. At this point, I don't need the job done- that ship sailed after I waited 2 months without a reply and I had to find an alternative.”

“We had a kitchen remodel and Bolt Electric did a phenomenal job. We utilized their services from our kitchen concept design through the final stages and were very happy with the result! Travis was our main electrician and he was detailed, hard working, and very professional to say the least. He spent a lot of time working inside our home and his diligence and attitude reaffirmed our trust with this company. I would recommend this company to anyone with electrical needs.”

“Great experience with Bolt. Josh came out and did the quote for a Sauna circuit install. Very knowledgeable and provided a range of options for us. When we approved the quote and scheduled the install, they were able to come get it done within a few days. Travis did the work, was very professional and knowledgeable, asked my opinion for orientation of our outdoor box before finalizing the install, and swept up the work area inside and out. Immediately after they left, I found an issue with a breaker on the panel, kitchen counter appliances not working. He immediately turned around and came back, did some trouble-shooting and found a loose neutral from some poor workmanship in the breaker installs (from original construction of the home), it must’ve just pulled out from him working around the area. He quickly re-terminated the wire and we were back in business, didn’t charge us for the effort. I highly recommend them and will be calling them first for any future electrical services.”

“Completely wasted my time. Tech took a phone call about 2 minutes into the site visit from a distressed customer. Spent the next several minutes on the phone with the client and his boss, even asking his boss if he should continue the estimate visit or leave while I stood there patiently. Never apologizing for this disturbance. I eventually had to tell him he could handle his more important affairs. I drove from St Augustine and waited several hours to meet with the tech. Unfortunate but I will never reach out again.”

They were very professional and courteous young men. Did a great job for me and cleaned up everything perfectly. Thank you to both as well as Josh who came yesterday to give the quote. Answered all of our questions. The other technicians were great as well. Kaley was here all day working with Travis and was equally fantastic. Alex and Chris helped out the day before to unpack the generator and move it to the pad.We are very pleased with this group. Bolt Electric is a company that I will gladly recommend.”

“Booked an estimate and was given a confirmation time of 4 hour window. Not only did no one show up, the company has completely stopped communicating with me for a reschedule. They originally cited “technical glitch” for the missed estimate showing, but obviously that was just BS. I would never trust this electrician, regardless of reviews. Thankfully, I found someone much more reliable to handle the more urgent concerns I had and also a larger project going forward. I am very forgiving for small business owners, as I am one myself, but disrespect for someone’s time is a hard no and a very telling character trait I highly suggest avoiding.”

“The Tech that came out was very job oriented. He indulged my small talk, but never looked away from what he was doing. He was knowledgeable and got the job done promptly. The entire team was helpful and kind. We needed emergency work and they delivered. The new set up on our outside equipment looks clean under the panels, but more importantly it works and the problems we were dealing with are taken care of. “Josh did my initial assessment, and my breaker board was fried in certain areas. My house was built in the 1990s and it had to be replaced ASAP! Jack came out the next morning and replaced the whole board. I really appreciate Josh's concerns about replacing it before it was worst case scenario, like catching on fire. He was not bullshitting me as he pointed out melted spots on the board.”

“They installed a level 2 charger in my garage for an electric car. When the electrician first came out to take a look at the project, I had not purchased the charger yet. He had me call the company, and he talked to them, "electrician-speak" about the unit, to make sure he would have what he needed. When he returned to install it, he had noticed on his first visit that I did not have surge protection on my electric panel, (and he fixed that). I plan on using them for any electrical needs I may have in the future.”

“Guy showed up in the timeframe I was given. Would be a 5 star but he had to go back to the office before he started working to get a piece for the job. The lady in the office (I’m sorry I forgot her name) was very nice and pleasant to talk to.”

“We had lights installed for the back of our property. They worked for about a month then quit. I have Called Bolt Electric multiple times over two months to have them repair their own work. NO RESPONSE. Person answering the phone says they have relayed the message. Wow, that really helps! I called three times, texted four times for resolution over a period spanning a month. Not great by any standard and this was to fix an issue with work they had already been paid for. BBB here we come. After posting a Google review of the experience I was contacted again by the company. They still didn't resolve the issue but wanted the review changed. Thye then canceled the appointment they had made to resolve the issue as well. This due to the review reflecting their performance. I think that tells a great deal. Stay Away! Best Advice”

“I’d hired them to install alumiconn connectors throughout my house and they missed the outlet at the head of my bed, luckily I noticed a weird zapping sound in the wall before falling asleep and was not burned to death due to their negligence. The lady seemed annoyed when I wanted someone to come out ASAP to correct it. They also replaced an outlet in my kitchen which melted-the Bolt technician blamed a lightning strike, all the other electricians stated it was likely due to loose wiring. Edit: I have never used a surge strip in my kitchen, this is an outright lie. My microwave, refrigerator, and oven are all on their own outlets and not on the kitchen outlet in question. Unless the owner is confusing me with someone else whose house they almost burned down. Bolt missed an additional outlet above my stove and needed to come out shortly after the original repair which they are neglecting to mention. The “repairs” they made in 2024-the outlet they didn’t bother to add an alumiconn to the first time still does not work, and the kitchen outlet they poorly installed then “fixed” already needs to be entirely replaced and they did not use an alumiconn in it.”

“Be aware, Bolt Electric will try to force a upsale on you. They will lie to try to get more money. I gave them architectural plans before they quoted me, and Lucas also inspected all work that needed to be done during his initial walk thru/inspection, before he quoted us. He emailed us a quote before any electrical work was started in 02/2021. Maybe a couple days after they begin working, Sean asked for full payment, and I said no, because I don't feel comfortable paying you in full before the work is completed. Sean let it go, then a couple days go by, Sean asked for payment again. Then I ask him, why are there wires hanging from the ceiling, has all of the plugs been tested? I can't pay you in ful until the job is complete. After the work was almost complete, that's when Lucas approached me for full payment, but now he wants us to pay him extra, but told me to pay the original quote $4,000.00 now, , and he'll figure the new balances later. $1,800.00 extra, almost 50 percent the original quote. Bolt Electric surprised us later with a extra bill for work that was not outside the scope of the architectural approved plans they've already reviewed. They also billed us again for a job that we hired them to do last February 2020, to get power to the building. We still haven't seen pics proving their recent random service claim? Is it standard for meter jaws to be replaced once a year? We didn't expect a bill that would be increased almost 50 percent of the original quote, I was shocked while meeting with Sean yesterday, Bolt Electric employee. As he was asking me for credit card numbers, I was asking him for the price he was charging me. Sean stuttered, and then he showed me the new price. (Sean is one of three employees of Bolt Electric that was on site regularly.) Lucas, you have my number. I'll pay you the original quote. $1,800.00 extra you want, is a disturbing ridiculous miscalculation, sounds illegal actually. Dude, it's only a 30x40 structure, a box. M.G.”

The text message whoever I was texting, said that they would tell the technician to arrive after 5:30.My issue was an electrical socket that I thought was dead, but Josh walked in, hit the light switch, and then the electrical outlet was working. Considering nothing was really done except him flipping a light switch and charged me 118.00 is ridiculous in my opinion. I don’t mind paying when a job is done but turning on the light switch and says everything is fine then turn around and charge me $118 is way overpriced.”

“These guys tore up my house. Huge mess. Holes in the wall, furniture moved around, wires sticking out. But they worked for the greater part of the day on my various small projects. At the end, they swept, vacuumed, and wiped everything clean. They left my house just as they found it, but also with working light switches, new breakers, new wiring, a new outlet, and Ethernet. “After shopping around I went with these guys because they had the cheapest dispatch fee for same day service ($70) other places wanted $150. Once he was here he took a look at things and clearly stated how the pricing would be if he continued his work. He proceeded to identify the problem and fixed it promptly.”

“I scheduled a time for an electrician to come out to check on an issue we were having from a remodel project done in 2016. Receptacles were not hot (no power, I checked with my voltage detector) in the living room. We also had flickering lights in the master bedroom and closet. Josh sent a text saying he was 20 minutes away the day of the appointment. Within 10 minutes he discovered the problem in a bedroom adjoining the living room wall. The remodel contractor had connected to a receptacle in the wall to create a new receptacle for the TV in the living room with unseen wiring. It showed signs of scorching and the wire insulation was melted away completely. Thank God we didn't lose our home to a fire! Josh and Chris came 2 days later and replaced every receptacle and switch, inside and outside. Thanks guys for a job well done! Now we sleep in peace without worrying about electricity problems!”

He complained about the price, however, he did not check to see what the price to replace an electrical panel costs on average. I was paying the bill and he was not even involved. I personally think he was annoyed he had no electricity and could not watch TV all day. Bolt Electric was very prompt and responsive. They cleaned up everything and quickly came back when one of the new switches kept tripping (unfortunately turning off his TV again!) They tracked down the issue and got it fixed. His review was unfair because he felt inconvenienced, not that Bolt Electric did a poor job or over charged. My apologies to Bolt Electric.
