Laundry Room Electrical Installation Planning Checklist

Use this worksheet when replacing laundry appliances, moving a laundry room, or planning a remodel in Jacksonville or Northeast Florida. It organizes the information for your electrical consultation. It is not a wiring guide or a substitute for an on-site assessment.

1. Identify the appliances

• Record the washer manufacturer and exact model.
• Record the dryer or combination-appliance manufacturer and exact model.
• Identify the appliance type using its product documentation.
• Save installation manuals for every appliance being installed.
• Ask the supplier which connection parts are included in delivery.
• Note any appliance you are still deciding between.

Different appliance types and models can have different electrical requirements. Have the electrician evaluate the selected equipment rather than assume the existing connection is suitable.

2. Document the room without disturbing equipment

• Sketch the proposed appliance positions and nearby cabinets.
• Note whether appliances will be stacked or installed side by side.
• Identify doors, shelving, and other features that may affect service access.
• Take accessible photos of the room and visible connection locations.
• Photograph the closed electrical panel from a safe standing position.
• Note any planned lighting, outlets, or additional appliances in the room.

Do not remove panel covers, open electrical boxes, or move heavy equipment to complete this worksheet.

3. Ask the electrician to confirm the scope

• Can the existing circuit and connection serve the selected model?
• Does the project require a capacity or load assessment?
• What wiring, receptacle, or circuit-protection changes are needed?
• What access is needed along the proposed wiring route?
• Are permit and inspection arrangements needed for this scope?
• Which work must happen before cabinets, drywall, or appliances are installed?
• Who handles finishing and cleanup outside the electrical scope?

4. Coordinate delivery and other trades

• Confirm the electrical work date with the appliance delivery schedule.
• Confirm who handles plumbing, ventilation, or gas work if applicable.
• Identify a contact who can answer questions during the work.
• Confirm what the delivery team will connect and what it will not.
• Keep the installation manuals available on site.

5. Close out the project

• Review the completed electrical work with the contractor.
• Confirm any required inspection status before considering the scope complete.
• Keep the estimate, invoice, appliance instructions, and relevant records together.
• Note any remaining work and the person responsible.
